At first in Restrepo the soldiers were having a good time on the train to their destination. This scene brought Fallen Angels to life because at first in the book they were scared but still had no clue what they were getting in to.
Seeing how the men in the movie reacted when they killed someone was similar to when the soldiers in Fallen Angels killed someone because they felt they had avenged the deaths of their friends and fellow soldiers.
When the soldiers in Restrepo were injured it reminded me of the way the soldiers in Fallen Angels reacted. For example, when Perry was injured he reacted the same as when one of the soldiers in Restrepo did.
In Restrepo the soldiers cried and mourned each others deaths as they did in Fallen Angels. It gave me a visual for what they go through.
In Fallen Angels they talk about how the war affected the civilians, In Restrepo I saw how much the innocent civilians are affected.
Seeing the relationships the soldiers had with each other showed me how close and how hard death is to the soldiers in both Fallen Angels and Restrepo.
In Fallen Angels, the soldiers tried to get the villigers to be on their side, this also occured in Restrepo. This showed me that in every war this is neccesary.
In Restrepo the soldiers relied and depended on each other as they did in Fallen Angels. This showed me that in order to survive war the soldiers must bond together.
The way the soldiers adapted to the landscape in Restrepo was alot like how they do in Fallen Angels. They had to adapt to the hills, the weather and the tempurature.
In both Fallen Angels and Restrepo the soldiers write to their families, and lie to them about their situations.
Reading Fallen Angels and watching Restrepo has showed me so much about war that I didn't know such as, the changes the soldiers go through and how good and bad of an experience war truely is. An example of a change the soldiers go through is when in Restrepo the soldiers have to deal with the deaths of their friends and fellow soldiers. That is a great example and probably the most life changing thing the soldiers deal with. Not only the soldiers in these two stories but soldiers in general have to experience alot of good and bad things. Examples of the good experiences are, the soldiers get to meet new people and learn how to become a man. Examples of bad are, the loss of fellow soldiers, having to kill somebody, and being so far away from home. Not only did war change the soldiers, the stories of war changed me.
